Food co-ops aim to provide fruit, vegetables, salad, meat, seafood and breads to customers at a fixed price, usually much cheaper than many other retail establishments. The producer chooses the selection of products according to what is in season and what offers best value for money that particular week. They then deliver, in bulk, to the co-op.
Customers usually order and pay in advance so there is no wastage and all profits made go direct to the producer.
