With its lush pasture and stunning scenery it is no wonder that the Teifi Valley in the heart of south-west Wales has been likened to the ‘Loire Valley’ of Welsh cheesemaking.
The River Teifi, which gives the area its name, begins its 75 mile journey 1,500 feet up on the western flanks of the Cambrian Mountains. From there it meanders through internationally acclaimed countryside, historic sites, villages and towns before entering the estuary at Cardigan and flowing out to sea in Cardigan Bay.
This producer website offers stories behind of some of the area’s best known awardwinning cheeses and their producers. Carmarthenshire Cheese Company, Caws Cenarth, Hafod Organic Welsh Cheddar, Teifi Farmhouse Cheese, and Sanclêr Organic are all renowned for their quality and taste.
