The first Carmarthen Food Festival takes place this summer – and the Carmarthen Journal wants its readers to get involved. The main aim behind the festival which takes place on Wednesday, 27th July, is to support local producers and give them an opportunity to promote their products.
The emphasis is very much on food and drink and as part of the event the Carmarthen Journal will be holding a competition to find the county’s best original recipe.
Do you have a favourite family recipe – something that’s been handed down through the generations or a meal you have just thrown together with leftovers which turned out to be just delicious? If so, get in touch with the Carmarthen Journal. The winner will go on to cook his or her recipe on the day at the True Taste Wales Food trailer kitchen. The recipe will also be published in the Carmarthen Journal for all to share. The festival will take over all of the town centre from King Street, through to the town’s historic squares to shopping centres Merlin’s Walk and St Catherine’s Walk.
And its not just about the eating and drinking. Visitors will enjoy a variety of music and entertainment aimed at all the family. For youngsters there will be a fabulous fancy dress competition based on the theme of magic. South West Wales Media advertising director Lisa Cameron chaired the event’s latest meeting. She said: "It’s going to be huge. We are looking at getting a minimum of 35 exhibitors. It is a food and drink festival but there will be so much more than that on the day."
The Carmarthen Food Festival is being hosted by the Carmarthen Journal and is being supported by Carmarthen Town Council, Carmarthenshire Radio, and the Welsh Assembly and True Taste Wales.
